Kids, need something to do this summer?
The Giving Tree Summer Feeding Program needs responsible teens to help prepare and serve meals to needy children Monday through
Friday from May 23 until August 8. This program provides 2 meals a day to children that receive free or reduced fee
meals during the school year.
Only 2% of children that use their
school's meal program receive food during the summer months.
The workday is Monday
through Friday from 7:30a.m. until around 2:30 p.m. Reliability and punctuality are critical. Hundreds of children count
on us being dependable! If we aren't - they don't eat that day!! The workday ends early and no
weekends are involved so there is still plenty of time to enjoy summer recess and help fight hunger at the same time.
For more information about the Summer Feeding Program, go to our
EVENTS page. Contact us at 4kids@dakotacom.net to express your interest in volunteering this summer.
How can I volunteer? Start here!
Project FEED - Come out on a Thurday or Sunday evening to the empty lot on 22nd Street between Columbus and Swan
(west of the Family Dollar Store). We set up tables and chairs starting at 4:00p.m. and start serving at 5:00p.m.
We serve over 200 meals each night plus pass out clothing, toiletries, and provide case management. No forms required!
Please bring food to share. It will be an added blessing to our guests. Bring your favorite pot luck recipe in
an aluminum pan (there is no running water at the lot) or just stop at the grocery for something quick.
Come to the back of the lot to sign in at our volunteer table or just look for someone with a Giving Tree t-shirt
or security shirt on to see where your help will best be used.
